As the summer of ’23 drew to a close, our skate sessions at Marnix Bowl took a hit and it quite literally became a pool – with a Dutch wet summer and an issue with water drainage bringing our shredding to a stop, and that just a week before the events of the Urban Sport Week Amsterdam. With the help of Gemeente Amsterdam, experts came and checked, concluding that the issue was due to a root of one of the trees that infiltrated the piping systems and left us with the conclusion of having to break concrete in the Marnix Bowl. However, after intense research and drainage of the Marnix Bowl, the conclusion was that the “root” cause was not under the Marnix Bowl but near the canal. All in all, the drainage was fixed and the festivities could resume.
